Hello, I am Alease Wilson, proud owner of BritishMists Cattery. Being born in El Paso Texas and raised in the United Kingdom has exposed me to many beautiful animals, places, and some unique people and opportunities. My first "real" purebred kittens were Misty & Coral ... Beautiful Persian kittens. My friends went on and on about how they wanted to have such wonderful, loving cats, even threatening to steal my girls. Finally after much begging (from friends) and the desire to share my happiness I had found with others, I gave in. I bred Misty to a Champion Persian located just outside of London, UK. Although Misty was well over a year old, the birth did not go well, as most Persian births have difficulty, but she did bring 3 of the most beautiful kittens into the world...and thus with the birth of the kittens, BritishMists Cattery was born.
Since 1991, I have bred Himalayans along with Persians. In 1998, I lost my most special Tortie Point Himalayan female "Sassy". My other Female "Misty" was past breeding age, and being devastated with Sassy's sudden passing, I closed my Cattery from 1998 till this year.
My family and I had moved from England to California and now due to my Father in law getting ill, we have made hopefully our last move to the beautiful foothills of North Carolina. In 2004, Misty had past from old age. Finally, in late 2006, we decided to bring a new kitten into our still saddened family. My husband said he wanted a part Siamese part himalayan like he had in college. He went on how they were so interactive, loving and smart. We found a few, but they were either not well, or were borderline feral. I ended up getting 2 Balinese males and instantly fell in love with their personality. Again, I wanted to share what a wonderful feeling these cats had brought into my family, and I realized how I missed the excitement of having kittens. It took 6 months to locate the perfect male and female to restart my Cattery. I knew I wanted a "closed" Cattery this time due to all the diseases and bad breeders out there. I found a special lady and mentor to help me with the transition from Himalayan/Persians to Siamese and The BritishMists Cattery was reborn.
I have maintained those same values I started breeding with, and strive to improve myself along with my kittens. Bringing a "typey" kitten with an awesome personality to a loving home where it would become part of the family, not just a pet is what I have always based my Cattery upon. My kittens are so loving and special, I actually grieve when they go to their new homes. I plan on remaining a small Cattery so I can spend as much time possible with my kittens and make sure they are as close to perfect as I can get them. The bond I create for my kittens also drives my desire for them to have the best owners possible. SO BE WARNED! If you want to take one of my special little ones home, you will have to be up to my standards.
I place my kittens for life. I emphasize the kind of care they deserve and expect their new family to love and protect them just as I have since their birth. I feel this is the most difficult part of owning a Cattery, and I strive to place all my lil' ones in special families. My kittens generally run $600 each.
